Virtual Open Week.
22nd - 26th June 2020. in partnership with West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), the Titan Foundation and the Career Development Institute (CDi) will be hosting the first ever Virtual Open Week to all Year 10 and 11 students within the West Midlands.

Why is this happening?

The impact of Covid 19 means that many young people are potentially missing out on the opportunity to investigate their options and, in particular, to visit and explore what colleges can offer. Working together we are providing an opportunity for young people to connect with colleges and giving colleges a great opportunity to connect with young people at scale.

Working with the West Midlands Combined Authority and supported by the Titan Partnership, the Careers Development Institute (CDi), Dev Clever through its platform is giving all 21 colleges across the West Midlands the opportunity to virtually ‘meet’ Year 10 and Year 11 students from across the region.

We are aiming to create real momentum and a focus for young people. The series of college open days and events will run for the week 22nd - 26th June and combine live sessions with college staff and overviews of courses plus links to websites and other sources of information. is an intuitive online platform which takes young people on a journey of career discovery. By taking part in a personality quiz young people get to learn about their personality animal, by expressing their interests this combined with their personality leads young people to their perfect career.

Once there they are able to learn all about their chosen career including LMI data detailing what the job involves, the growth rate as well as how much they can earn.

How will this happen?

All careers within are associated to sectors, so each student will be given a personalised itinerary via their dashboard that brings together all the relevant college sessions that meet their requirements ensuring they get to see what is important to them.

In return, colleges get connected up with specific students that have already expressed an interest in what they offer. The virtual open week will create the space and the momentum for colleges to ‘meet’ with interested young people and young people will be connected up with colleges, subjects and courses that excite them.

Live events will be organised using the Zoom webinar technology ensuring that colleges retain control of their events and participants receive a high quality, safe and managed experience. Using a common system ensures that students have just one type of software and a common set of joining instructions to access any session.
